Levi
After falling asleep next to the creek bed the previous night Zayna and I had both woken up bright and early, just at the crack of dawn. Without any question of where to go or what to do, we started moving. The forest was calm and seemed to never end, but we weren't on a nature walk. After wandering around aimlessly for awhile, Zayna and I decided to head toward the mountains east of us where the sun had started gleaming over the peaks to shed a golden light on the thinning forest we were venturing out of. Every now and then I'd catch Zayna glancing at me from the corner of my eye. She looked like she was trying to solve all my mysteries in life, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't doing the same to her. Who was this small girl with the bright green eyes and innocent expression? And more importantly what could she have possibly done to deserve a sentence like this? Even if it didn't mean much, considering our days seemed numbered, I hoped I'd get to know who Zayna really was.
We kept pushing onward, out of the forest. I'd lag behind and pick at some plants or bushes every now and then but the vegetation was starting to vanish as the ground became littered with rocks and boulders. I looked up at the mountains and realized that the sun was much higher than it'd been before. It'd taken us probably about two hours to make it this far. As we started up the mountain I began to take the lead. Being taller, and admittedly a little stronger than Zayna, it was easy for me to scale the rigid terrain we were encountering. I kept my eyes on the ground in front of me as we shuffled over some flat land where a few small piles of snow had congregated. We were about half way up when Zayna spoke out.
"Levi, I hate to be the weak link here, but I need to stop and rest," she called out, slowing down to a halt. I was a few feet ahead of her so I stopped and scanned the area before I looked back at her.
((Okay, so I would write more but I need to go to sleep but also idk if you wan to change anything or not but I was wondering what if maybe we didn't have them get to the cave just yet? Like they could stop and eat some of the plants/berries Levi picked and discuss a game plan or something or maybe we could have something somewhat actiony happen but just something to fill the space before they stop for the night in the cave... Idk, what do you think?))
