Levi "Besides a few cuts and bruises, I think I'm good. Everything seems to be in tact at least. . ." She joked, sounding just as scratchy as me. I nodded my head, watching the ash sweeping off of my jumpsuit as the stream pushed on. "Good." I said to her. I glanced at her and raised an eyebrow. "Do you figure this water is safe to drink?"

Zayna "Good," he answered. Suddenly he glanced over at me with a raised eyebrow. "Do you figure this water is safe to drink?" I glanced over it and slowly nodded my head. "I would guess as much," I replied slowly. "It looks like it comes from a natural spring so I'd say it's as safe as anything else."

Levi "I would guess as much," she replied slowly. "It looks like it comes from a natural spring so I'd say it's as safe as anything else." "True. Either way, I'm gonna drink it and hope for the best." I said with a chuckle that caused me to cough again and drop my smile. After I stopped choking I dipped my hands into the cold stream and wiped them together, washing the soot off before scooping the icy water into my mouth and swallowing it greedily. I grinned in relief and wiped my mouth when I was done. "It doesn't taste deadly." I noted with a shrug.

Zayna "True. Either way, I'm gonna drink it and hope for the best," he laughed with a shrug which caused him to cough up a storm. "And if the best turns out to be the worst possible outcome?" I asked snarkily. "Well then I guess I'll be floating between here and the afterlife for a while," Levi replied, smirking. "More like for eternity," I mumbled in semi amusement. "Glad all I lost was my heart!"

Levi "And if the best turns out to be the worst possible outcome?" Zayna asked snarkily as I leaned back and propped myself up on my elbows. I smirked and answered her with amusement. "Well then, I guess I'll be floating between here and the afterlife for a while." "More like for an eternity," She mumbled, seeming entertained. "Glad all I lost was my heart!" "Yeah, yeah. Lucky you. You don't have to remind me." I grumbled, standing up out of the nippy water. I looked back behind us where the air had turned black and the smoke trailed downwind away from us. I took a deep breath as I considered how narrowly we just escaped and I knew that wouldn't be the end of it. If we were going to survive, our struggle had just begun.
((I feel like he should say something else to her to keep up the dialogue but idk what! :S ))

Zayna "Yeah, yeah. Lucky you. You don't have to remind me," he grumbled, standing up and looking around to the place we just narrowly escaped with out lives. I followed his gaze for a moment, staring at the angry black cloud of smoke that whipped into the air. A shiver ran up my spine as I realized just how close we had come to not making it out of there. I quickly shook the thought from my head. No reason to dwell in the past of what could've happened when we were in the present dealing with what did happen; and what did happen was that we did make it out alive.. I waded over to the deeper part of the water, letting it wash the soot and dirt off of my arms and clothes. I sighed in relief as the cool water soothed my burning skin. I gently splashed some on my face, rubbing it over the tender places. Leaning back, I rinsed my hair out, then left it hanging in a wet mess around my face as I swam back to the shore. I slowly eased myself out of the water and stood on the hard packed dirt around the river bank near Levi. "I'm sorry.. About before," I murmered, coming up behind him and touching his arm with my hand. "I know our situation isn't a joke and I didn't mean to act like it was."
((Haha more dialogue! Idk anymore xD))

Levi
Zayna paused and looked at the rolling black clouds with me for awhile. After taking a deep breath I ran my fingers through my hair and shook it out as I trudged through the creek bed and onto solid land between some rocks. I looked back at Zayna who was wading in the deeper water and washing herself off. Walking around one of the rocks, I stood beside it, searching the trees. I started wondering what else was in store for us, and how hard the guards would try to kill us before they actually succeeded. Obviously they didn't seem to care what measures would have to be taken, but the one question I couldn't wrap my mind around was 'why'? They'd had us right in the palm of their hands, they could've killed us in a single instant but they'd decided on doing this to us. I guess it was just another show of their power, their cruel ability to do anything and everything possible. Suddenly a voice cut through my thoughts and I wiped the confusion off of my face. "I'm sorry.. About before," Zayna murmered, coming up behind me and brushing against my arm with her hand. "I know our situation isn't a joke and I didn't mean to act like it was." I turned to face her and cocked my head slightly. Her hair was a wet mess around her face and she was soaked to the bone just like I was. I met her eyes and then shrugged, pulling the corner of my mouth out to the side a bit. "You don't have to be sorry." I told her. "Our situation... Is a terrible one." I admitted with a short laugh. "But if we can't keep our heads up throughout it, then they've already beaten us. Making light of it might just be the best way to deal with the mess they've put us in."

Making light of it might just be the best way to deal with the situation they've put us in." I nodded once, unsure of how to respond. He was right, that's for sure. We had to get through this somehow, and maybe that was one of the only ways. The realization that we really couldn't do anything to get ourselves our of this hit me and I sighed in frustration as a wave of emotions washed over me. The government owned us at the moment and we were powerless to stop them as they pulled our strings, making it known that we were their puppets. I braught my hand up, wiping off the water that was dripping from my face then turned away from Levi, walking towards the water. I plopped myself down a broken tree branch, bringing my knees up to my chest and leaning my chin again them as I stared at nothing.

Levi
Zayna nodded slowly and then wiped her face, turning away from me. She walked back toward the stream an plopped down on the ground next to a broken tree branch. Her chin rested on her knees as she hugged them close to her chest. I sighed slightly and then went to sit next to her. The ground was cold underneath my palms as I lowered myself down and a shiver started throughout my numb body. I was only a couple of inches away from her but no warmth passed between our cold, wet bodies. I looked at her for a moment and then followed her focused gaze out into the trees but I couldn't tell for sure what she was focused on. The wind rustled through the trees, reeking of the ashen scene we'd left behind us at the top of the ravine we sat in now. I breathed it in letting it fill my lungs once more and I exhaled slowly, parting my lips slightly and breathing out of my mouth quietly. "So," I said after a moment. "Do you think we're safe for the night?"

Zayna After a moment of sitting in silence, Levi turned towards slighty. "So.." he murmered. "Do you think we're safe for the night?" I ran my fingers through my knotted hair as I contemplated my answer. “For the night? Yeah.. But something tells me this was only the start of a long mission..” I glanced up at him after I answered. I may not know what Levi was thinking, but I did know that we could both tell our unwanted adventure was just beginning and the worst was yet to come.

Levi "So," I said after a moment, "Do you think we're safe for the night?" Zayna's fingers got tangled in her dark hair as her hands ran through it while she contemplated an answer. "For the night? Yeah. . . But something tells me this was only the start of a long mission." Her hands fell back into her lap and she glanced up at me meeting my eyes very seriously. It was obvious then that we both knew that what we'd been through today was just the beginning of something horrible that neither of us wanted any part of. And even more, we knew that the worst was yet to come.

NEW CHAPTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Zayna Levi and I woke up bright and early the next morning to the soothing sounds of the wilderness. Without missing a heartbeat, we got up and started walking through the forest, knowing we didn't have time to sit around while the guards were still after us. After wandering around the forest for a while, Levi and I decided to head towards the mountains. When we reached them, we began our assent with no more events or surprises. As we walked, I kept glancing over at Levi, trying to figure out who he was and what his life had been like. For the half a day I had known him, I could tell he was strong willed and determined, but his attitude towards everything was light, like life was a joke. Maybe that was just how he dealt with whatever was in his past. My interest was definitely peaked about him but I figured I'd get to know him eventually, especially as we walked up the rocks stoops. The terrain was better up in the mountains than down in the forest. It gave us the ability to see a threat quicker and more places to hide if necessary. I had grown up hiking and climbing with my parents so I wasn't having much trouble facing the obstcles of the mountain. They had always given me little tips on how to strive for greatness when climbing and I was trying my best to use them now. Memories began to surface in my mind of those times and a lump rose in my throat. Thinking of my parents was a weakness of mine and I tried my hardest to lock any memory of them far in the back of my head. I rubbed at my eyes and swallowed hard. “Levi, I hate to be the weak link here, but I need to stop and rest,” I called out to him after hours of walking without rest. He was a few feet ahead of me, which allowed me to see him pause and look around when I spoke up.
