I snickered at her and started looking around for a good place to hide. A certain tree trunk caught my eye. It was much thicker than the others which surrounded it in a dense shroud of brush. "Hey, I think I found a good spot to post up for now." I said, pointing it out.

I whistled lowly then commented, “That’s a big tree. Perfect hiding spot for two fugitives like ourselves!”

When we reached the tree I slid my backpack off of my shoulders and let it fall to the ground for a moment, trying to decide how I would get it up the tree with me. I stretched my back out and tested my shoulder a little as I inhaled deeply. My stomach cramped with hunger as I did and I recoiled a bit and held a hand over it.
"Hey, how about leaving our bags here by the tree for awhile and looking for some plants we could eat, and some water? Are you alright with that?" I asked.
