I smiled half-heartedly. "That's exactly why so many people turned in the first place. The whole war that's going on right now, it's all about injustice. And who knows... Maybe it'll never end. But maybe if we can make it through this, we could live to see the end of that too." I said, dwelling on outside life for a moment. Even after years of torture I hadn't lost my hope. If anything it had only grown.

"Oh there's no maybe about it," I grinned, feeling a new surge of hope for myself and for the cause my parents fought and died for. "We're going to get through this.. Together." The government may have though they were just putting us together to watch us fail but what they didn't realize was that Levi and I both had a drive within us to succeed and, for some reason, that drive was enhanced when they threw us together. For the first time in a long time, I had hope; true hope.

CHAPTER  Levi The sun had disappeared about an hour ago, taking any of the warmth its rays held with it. By this point all of my own warmth had been leached out into the stone walls of the cave we sat in. Snowflakes were falling outside and occasionally blowing into the opening of the cave. I sighed deeply, curling up more tightly and wrapping my arms around my knees. I cast a glance through the dark at Zayna. She was in the same position and shivering just like I was. "Nice weather we're having, isn't it?" I spoke up, breaking the long period of silence we'd been holding. |

It's only chapyer four for me  Zayna "Just dandy," I replied, my breath coming out in short spurts. I licked my lips in an attempt to warm them up. |

I pulled my mouth to the side in thought and then put my head between my knees for a moment, my breath creating a warm pocket for my face.
"Well, it's too dark to look for more firewood. Plus, in the dark they'd be sure to spot the glow of the fire..." I trailed off, knowing well what the only thing to suggest would be to keep us even a little warmer.

“So what you’re telling me is we jumped down a waterfall, ran through a forest fire, eluded multiple guards who are attempting to murder us in cold blood.. Only to die from hypothermia or frost bite?” I asked dramatically, swooping my arms around to emphasize my words (not to mention get the blood flowing again).

I chuckled at her goofiness and then put my head between my knees again when the cold air hit it.
"No, that's not how I plan on going." I said still grinning to myself. "But... You know, we can't just let ourselves freeze to death so we could always try... I dunno... Conserving body heat?" I suggested the idea hoping not to sound to awkward. A couple seconds after I said it I peeked up, raising my eyebrows at her to see her reaction.

“Hmm.. Freeze to death.. Or cuddle up next to a cute guy..” I pursed my lips, pretending to think it over. “I think I’ll go with option two!”
On the outside, I was smirking and trying to act casual, but on the inside, my heart was thumping at full throttle as I crawled over to where Levi sat on the opposite side of the cave.

"Oh, so I'm cute, huh?" I ask with a laugh as I uncurl so she can sit beside me. "You sure prison hasn't lowered your expectations?" I quipped with a sly glance, even though I was unable to hide a small grin.

I bit my lip, thankful that Levi couldn't see my cheeks flush with color as his arm snaked around my shoulders. Sadly, this was the first time a guy had ever had his arms around me and I wasn't sure how to react. The only noise was the howling of the wind, making me shiver. After a moment, I snuggled in closer to Levi, resting my head on his chest. My skin tingled everywhere our bodies met, his heat radiating through my side. My head rose and fell with the time of his breathing and I sighed, content.

Zayna didn't reply, she just sat there for a moment, kind of stiffly. After awhile she relaxed and snuggled in close to me. I couldn't help but smile as I leaned my head on the top of hers, thankful for her warmth. I closed my eyes, feeling lucky despite everything that I could experience this kind of contact at least once in my life. We rested there for a couple of minutes, eyes closed and trying to go to sleep, but that was easier said than done. My mind was reeling about all of the danger that surrounded us and what our future held but also about my past and if I'd get back to it. Over all of that Zayna's voice rang with our playful banter and that was the voice I wanted to hear. What was that that she'd said earlier about me being cute?
"Hey..." I whispered. "So... I'm cute?" I asked in a playful tone.

Zayna smacked me in the chest and told me to go to sleep. I just laughed at her as she curled back up against me. I closed my eyes and locked my hands together securing her in my arms. After a long silence I could tell she'd fallen asleep. ((somewhat godmodding so you can change that if you want xD)) I slowly drifted off behind her into a dream.
((I don't remember exactly what the dream he had was so I'm gonna end it for now and just write it up after your reply!))
