I nodded slowly. "But that would take a lot of extra work. Not that I mind work! It's just it kinda seems like it'd be pointless. I think the trees would be our best and safest option," I replied, unsure if I was making my point clear.

I looked down, somewhat angry at myself. I just had to be the egotistical person who didn't show emotion and acted like I didn't need help. Here I was trying to make my parents proud of me but really, I had probably done the exact opposite. They weren't like that at all. I was probably a failure in their eyes because of what I did and that had also cost me my credibility with Levi. I glanced up at him and nodded silently, afraid my voice might crack if I said anything. I cleared my throat and quietly said, "Yeah.. Promise."

"Good," I say with a soft grin. "I think we should probably go until it starts getting to dark to see. That way we can climb up into the trees before it gets completely dark out here."

"Right..." I reply slowly. I trudged on in silence for awhile. I mean, what do you talk about with some other convict you barely know? A younger, girl convict at that. I doubt the whole 'so, what are you in for' conversation would ever go very well. Uhg. This is what being locked up with no one but Nixon will do to you. I bite my lip, hoping for some kind of conversation.

We walked in silence for a little bit. It was kinda awkward to say the least. I wasn't sure what to say and I'm sure he felt the same way. I opened my mouth to say something but al that came out was a blood curdling shriek. Pain pierced every sector of my body like a thousand needles. I lifted my shirt up and screamed in agony. My stomach was slowly ripping farther and farther apart and blood was spewing out. I fell to the ground in spasm as darkness prickled at my vision. Then... I was dead. ((Hehehehe sorry I had to.))

We walked in silence for a little bit, the only sound was the crunch of leaves under our feet. Usually that wouldn't be a problem for me because I was a quiet person. I preferred the noises of nature rather than human voices. But for some reason I felt like I needed to say something to Levi but I wasn't sure what and I'm sure he felt the same way. I mean, we had just met each other so we knew nothing about the other. I pondered in my thoughts for another moment then glanced up at him. If this was a normal world, I would probably be a love sick teenage girl, drooling on his every word because he was eye candy to say the least. But this wasn't a normal world so I shoved all those kind of thoughts away into the back of my mind. No one had time for that. I sighed heavily and looked back at the ground. "What are you thinking about?" I asked him quietly

"A little bit of everything I guess. Mostly stuff with Nixon... The guard with the blonde hair that was with us when we talked to Karisity." I explain. "It's really kind of bothering me that he's one of the ones after us right now. I mean, I've had enough of him since I went to prison, I don't need him out here to." I admit, feeling that biting annoyance that I associated with him. I mean, I always figured that if I died any time soon, it'd be by him. I just didn't expect it to be some sick kind of game like this. But that's all anything has ever been to that guy, a sick, twisted game. I sneered as I ducked under a small tangle of branches.

"Oh..." I said, remembering him. I was surprised Levi had opened up like that and I didn't really know how to respond. "I'm sorry," I murmered quietly. "I can't pretend to understand what you're going through but I can say that we all have things going on and I understand what you're feeling. Believe me, I do."

I exhale slowly. "Yeah, you probably do." Is all I say. This was when I realized I literally knew nothing about her past, and she didn't know mine. That was probably a good thing when it came down to it. What if she thought what I did was terrible? She already saw what I was capable of in the cave, and that didn't end up well at all.
But then again, what if what she did was equally as bad? I know she said something about paying off for her parents crimes, but why would they take her instead of them? And why make her serve a sentence she didn't earn? It just didn't make any sense... I glance at her for a moment. Just a small girl with bright green eyes and shiny black hair, what could someone like her really do that could be bad enough for what they're doing to us right now?
