Echo looked over the books, wishing she had money so she could buy one. From across the deck Blake called for Jane to come over. Once Jane had left, she looked up at the man and smiled, "I'm sorry, I'm probably just wasting your time... I don't have any money on me. But it looks like you have really nice books."

Ray, the Merchant, looked down at the girl. She had worry lines on her forehead that didn't quite match with the rest of her face. Her hair was cut short, which was very unusual but intriguing at the same time. "What do you like to read, madame?" He asked, "Pick anything you wish out, and we can settle on something later. Besides, this captain is typically generous with items his crew would like to purchase." He gave her a smile, setting the books out for her to admire easier.

Echo bit her lip, looking down at the books he had put on display for her. "Well..." she trailed off, "You see... I don't really want anyone here paying for me... I'm not really a part of the crew... at least, I'm not right now. It's... complicated," she explained, opening the cover of one of the books carefully.

Ray smiled, shaking his head. "Then you must take the first volume of a book series, that way you will have to come back to me to get the others." He chuckled, grinning playfully.

Echo laughed, shaking her head, "No, I couldn't do that. But I'll make sure that the next time you come back, I'll be able to pay for one myself."

Ray smiled fondly, "Then that is what we shall do. Take your pick." He told her, happy to have found someone who appreciated his books

"Are you sure? You could just come back when I have money," she gave him a smile. "What if I was a thief?" She joked.

Ray smiled, "Well I already know that you are, so I'll take my chances." He was giving her a sly grin, "Seeing as you've already stolen my heart." It was true, Ray had shy seen a woman as beautiful and unique as she.

Echo turned bright red, unable to keep a smile off her lips. ""Well... I guess you have a point there," she chuckled, and looked back at the books.

Ray chuckled to himself, as he watched her. "When you figure out what you want, come find me madame." He gave a small bow and offered his hand for her to take. When she draped hers into it he kissed her knuckles, then rose, walking to another part of the ship while she looked.

Echo blushed even harder, if that was possible, and watched the man walk to another part of the ship. She smiled, and then began to look through the books, excited.

aaron walked over a short time later, looking over Echos shoulder. "There are also books in our cabin that you like," he reminded her

Echo nodded, "I know. I'm only looking, anyways. These are in really good condition... It's not every day that I get to see books this nice... well... at least I think so."

"Do you want any of them? I can get you whatever you want." He smiled, but it was a tired and worn out smile of a man under too much stress.

Echo shook her head, "I don't anyone buying me stuff like this," she told him, and gave him a small smile. When she looked up at him, her smile faded. "You look really tired... you should go rest, if you can."
