Halloween. It’s a time of candy and costumes…and don’t forget Halloween parties. But this year…Halloween is a little bit different. This year, Halloween falls on the Hundredth anniversary of the death of a witch in your little town. Sorgina, right before she was hung proclaimed,
“On the hundredth anniversary of my death, all the people in this town shall suffer for what they did! I will--!”
She never finished what she was saying, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t curse us.
So when Halloween approaches, a few of us are wary of participating, but when our friends make fun of us for being foolish, we suck it up and go to the Halloween parties with our friends. But when the clock strikes midnight, we became one with our costumes…quite literally. Our parents, and everyone can’t seem to see the transformations, in their eyes, everyone looks as they did before.
But something in us all changed. The ones dressed as vampires, they grew fangs and long fingernails, their eyes turned red and they ran off to find an animal to kill so they didn’t hurt their friends.
The ones dressed as werewolves, grew fur and howled at the moon…
Luckily, the werewolves and other deadly creatures, vampires, witches, etc, didn’t grow evil like they should have. You see, because Sorgina didn’t get to finish cursing us, the curse wasn’t complete.
Instead of totally taking on the full personalities of the people and things we turned into, we only got small personality tweaks.
The vampires grew fangs, permanent ones, and long fingernails, but their eyes only turn red when they need to feed, a warning sign to everyone to get away. Because they don’t want to hurt their community, they feed on deer and other animals. The vampires also look just like they normally do, just paler. They cannot go out into the sun, so they carry umbrellas in the day and wear sunglasses all the time as well all day.
The werewolves only change at night. Typically they only change on full moons, but when they get really mad, they morph. And when they do, they eat a lot of meat. Let’s just say that seeing a werewolf eating a hamburger isn’t uncommon in this town.
The witches aren’t stereotypical witches. As you know, there are many kinds of witches, the pretty ones with short skirts, the ones with warts…it doesn’t matter what kind of witch you turned into, you suddenly have an increased knowledge of herbal medicine and potions.
If you were dressed up as an Animal, you have the capability to turn into that animal fully, and you also have some of their attributes. If dressed as a cat, you have their ears and a tail. You at first start randomly changing into that animal, not able to control shifting at first, but you find that you turn into your animal the same time every night, whether or not you do it.
Then there are the storybook characters. These typically have the Hero/heroine/ protagonist, and then the bad guy/antagonist. These include Robin Hood and Prince John, Etc. The antagonists we have found are mostly made up of popular people. The Football captain is Prince John, actually.
So are we ever going to be able to change back? Or will we stay this way forever?
