I heaved myself up out of the hole as she was whispering loudly to me. "Levi! You can't take them all on! You'll get hurt! Levi!" I sighed, knowing she might be right, but I had no choice but to try. I wasn't going to let her get killed, and I wouldn't make it if I ran. I had to do this. I peered back into the hole at her. She looked scared so I grinned, trying to look confident.
"You'd be surprised what I can do." I said with a wink. I spun the rock around on my finger like a basketball and then caught it in my hand, slipping off into action. I snuck to the front of the cave, staying close to the ground. I hid behind a drift of snow that had gathered around some rocks and waited, holding my breath in anticipation. The guards were coming right over the ridge. They got near and I knew I couldn't blow it by jumping in too fast and getting caught in front of them. I counted their shapes in the darkness. One, two, three... Only three? I licked my lips and pressed them tightly together, freezing as they stopped talking and started into the cave. As soon as the last one disappeared out of sight I stood and let my instincts and past training take over. I jumped over the ridge, landing in front of the cave.
((And I have to look at the old version to know how the fight went!))

((Okay well since the fight scene is your part anyway and it won't affect my side any, want me to just keep going with the reply when Levi walks back in?))

The guards whirled around looking confused, I'd taken them completely off guard.I went for the closest one to me and grabbed his wrist, pulling him close to me and twisting it so he dropped his gun. He grunted threw an elbow at me as the gun clattered to the ground. I didn't even think as I used the edge of the rock in my hand to tear a jagged line across his throat. The other guards shouted and pointed their guns at me but didn't have a clear shot. The guard started slipping and choking as his blood ran over my arm but I held him in front of me as a shield while the other two seemed to stunned to shoot at either of us. The guard went totally limp and as he fell I crouched down and grabbed the gun from the ground. I backed up and put it to my shoulder, looking down the sights and firing a burst of bullets at the guard to my right. Blood spread across his chest, staining his grey uniform, and he fell with his weapon. I continued backing up and hid behind part of the entrance to the cave. I heard the last guard stammer a swear word as the spray of bullets he'd let out ricocheted off the cave wall and I took large shaky breaths, checking my ammunition while I was out of his sight. I peered around the corner into the cave where he was looking frantically between his teammates and the pool of blood on the ground, which stirred in with the snow. He was breathing rapidly when he looked up and spotted me and his eyes set in a glare.
"You sorry piece of-" He shouted, setting off a burst of rounds at me. I quickly returned fire from behind my cover, but not without getting struck in the shoulder. I let out a cry and turned back around, putting my back to the wall. I could hear moaning coming from inside and I pursed my lips together in a sort of grimace. I heard his body hit the ground and he choked.
"P-please! I give! D- don't kill me!" I heard from inside the cave. The guard was surrendering? No, I couldn't trust that. I bit my lip and felt my shoulder. Blood covered my hand but I could tell the bullet had passed through right on the surface, just leaving a deep gash. I shook my head, narrowing my eyes as I heard more movement from inside the cave.
"No, it doesn't work like that..." I replied, knowing I had to protect Zayna who was still in the cave.
"You're right." He replied harshly as suddenly my feet were kicked out from under me. I fell backward as the guard lurched halfway out of the cave, landing on the ground and releasing a wild spray of ammunition. Luckily for me, his aim was too high and to the right. I fired back and hit the guard spot on. I watched his head snap back and his body crumple as I gasped for air and lowered my weapon. When I caught my breath I got to my feet and looked at the gun in my hands. I set it on the ground and, then, without saying anything, started searching the guards. I stepped back into the cave, the bloody snow covering my boots and retrieved the pistols from their holsters on the bodies. I stuck one in my waistband, the other one would be for Zayna. I tried not to look in their faces as I took the backpacks off of their backs and stuck one on my good shoulder. I looked down at my feet which were planted in a puddle of blood and took a deep breath, feeling a mix of emotions. After a moment I tried to snap out of it as I moved further into the cave and around the corner to where Zayna was, perfectly untouched, though we definitely weren't safe.

Distant voices reached their way toward me again and I coward behind the rocks, keeping my breathing quiet and steady. I listened intently, trying to figure out how close they were when suddenly an angry stream of swear words rang through the cave. I slapped my hand over my mouth as multiple gunshots sounded. I covered my ears as they echoed off the walls.
I heard a familiar voice cry out in pain then someone moaned, sounding miserable.
“Please! I give. D-Don’t kill me,” I distantly heard someone plea.
“No, it doesn’t work that way,” I heard Levi reply. My eyes widened in horror.
“You’re right,” the other person replied harshly before more gunshot rang throughout the cave. Then.. There was only silence. My heard pounded in my chest as I heard the scuffling of rocks then someone walking towards me.
I breathed a silent sigh of relief when I saw Levi’s familiar face walk around the corner.
"Are you okay?!" I gasped, taking in his appearance. His shoulder was dripping with blood and his face was smudged with dirt and a million emotions danced around in his eyes.

"I'm fine," I said, letting out a bit of relief as I offered her her backpack and gun. "Just bleeding a little, but we have to go. The rest could be here any minute." I told her, lending her my free hand.

"I'm fine,” he replied. He had two backpacks with him and he passed one to me. I pulled it over both my shoulders as he held out something else; a gun. I eyed it for a second and grinned a little, happy to have something I could defend myself with. As I strapped it into my belt loop Levi continued, “Just bleeding a little but we have to go. The rest could be here any minute.”
He held out a hand to me and I took it gratefully as he led us towards the mouth of the cave. I tried to ignore the uncomfortable sensation my wound was causing me as I glanced at Levi’s arm. I assumed he had gotten clipped with a shot and was concerned about how bad it was.
“Levi we should look at your shoulder,” I suggested. “We don’t know how much damage there is. What if the bullet is lodged in there?”

"It's not, I already checked." I told her. I started to lead her out, biting the inside of my lip. "You... Probably don't want to see this." I told her as we were about to turn out into the big part of the cave that we'd been in. I set my brows and tried not to look at her, or what was ahead, or anything. I just wanted to get as much distance between us and this cave as possible.

I furrowed my brow, not sure what to expect, when three men came into view. Three dead men. All were lying in a pool of blood and I couldn't help but gasp.
The first one was lying face down, a bullet hole going right through his head and one of his arms laying out in an unnatural position. The second man's mouth was agape, his eyes permanently paralyzed in confusion as he stared up at nothing. His neck was slit open roughly and blood still slowly spewed out. The last one had a bullet hole in his chest and another in his head, as if the first blow didn't kill him.
"You.. You did this?" I whispered to him, shocked.

"I had to, Zayna." I told her plainly, letting out a sigh. I couldn't really think of anything except getting away, and I didn't want to be judged for defending our lives, but I knew well enough how horrific this type of scene was.

I swallowed loudly, my eyes jumping form one gory scene to the next. Deep down, I knew Levi had to do it; it was kill or be killed. But I couldn’t help but feel nauseated at the lethalness of it.
“There’s just.. So much blood,” I said hoarsely, biting my lip. I had seen brutal murders and rampages on the news all the time at the prison, but seeing it in person was a whole other story.

"It's not as bad as it seems." I tried to tell her, hoping to downplay the situation and to get her to move on from it. As we exited the cave I could see the sun starting to come up but the sky was still full of storm clouds, just adding to the list of reasons I had for pushing on.

I didn’t want him to feel any worse than I was sure he was already feeling so I just nodded my head as we walked through the puddles of blood to the gloomy skies outside the cave.
I stood there for a second, trying to get past the nauseating feeling welding up inside of me. Then, quietly, I reached out to Levi and put my hand on his upper arm in a caring gesture.
“Levi..” I started, hesitantly. “Thank you.. For risking your life just to keep me safe.”

Zayna softly put her hand on my arm, in a caring way. "Levi..." She started hesitantly. "Thank you... For risking your life just to keep me safe."
I slowly turned to look her in the eyes, raising my eyebrows. I didn't know how to respond but the way she was looking at me made me reach up to touch her face. I brushed her bangs away with my fingertips and looked more deeply into her eyes, thumbing her soft, pink, lips. I paused for a moment, questioning if I was about to make a mistake, but when she placed her hand on the back of my neck I knew it was right. I leaned in and planted my lips on hers, pulling her to me and wrapping my arms around her.
((I'm just kidding but once I imagined it I had to write it down xD makes for some good fanfic though!)) ((But on that note, I'm not sure exactly how else he would respond xD help?))

I slowly turned to look her in the eyes, raising my eyebrows. I didn't know how to respond so I just looked away and mumbled "Yeah..." I breathed in deeply and then looked back at her again. "We'd better get going so we can find a safe place to stop and make sure you're not bleeding out or something." I told her, trying to bring some wit back into the conversation.
